This past weekend marked the official start to British GT Championships 2018, with the first race taking place at Oulton Park.
Prior to this weekend, McLaren Automotive pledged to strengthen its ties to racing in the British GT Championship with a McLaren Sports Series appearing as the safety car in each race. McLaren Glasgow, the UK’s official McLaren Motorsports retailer, were of course proud to supply the safety cars.
One of our Sales Executives, Steven Mitchell took some of our McLaren owners with him to Oulton Park, where they got to watch the races with Mike Flewitt, McLaren Automotive’s CEO along with sampling some true McLaren Hospitality.
We’d like to say massive congratulations to Ben Barnicoat and Adam Balon who took the top spot on the British GT Championship podium in the Trackgroup 570S GT4 and to McLaren Development Drivers Michael O’Brien and Charlie Fagg, who placed third.
In the GT3, it was great to witness history being made as Flick Haigh became the first woman to outright win a GT race in the British GT Championship!
Despite Race Two being called off due to torrential weather, our team and our McLaren owners had a great day and we look forward to the rest of the British GT Championship season.
